Bienvenido a una visita turística virtual por la arquitectura de Madrid, capital de España. Contempla sin
moverte de tu asiento la decoración y adornos de los edificios históricos de Madrid más interesantes: esculturas,
relieves, escudos, referencias mitológicas... Podrás ver el nombre moderno y antiguo de cada edificio, además del arquitecto y constructor, con las fechas correspondientes. He agrupado los edificios dentro de varias zonas, aunque el criterio no es demasiado estricto.Hay una selección de edificios con caduceo. Este símbolo,
ligado al dios Hermes (griego) o al dios Mercurio (romano), aparece
como elemento decorativo en varios edificios de la capital de España
relacionados con el comercio y la banca construidos desde finales del siglo 19 a principios del 20. El propio Hermes-Mercurio está
representado como un joven con casco alado sosteniendo el caduceo. A veces tiene próxima la figura de Atenea-Minerva en forma de mujer con coraza y casco. Básicamente un caduceo consiste en una vara o flecha
rodeada por dos serpientes. También puede tener un casco con alas y una rueda dentada. ¡Disfruta de tu paseo!

Welcome to a virtual touristic tour through the arquitecture of Madrid, the capital of Spain. Watch from
your seat the decoration of the most interesting historical buildings in Madrid: statues, engravings, scutcheons,
mythology... You will find the current and former name of each building, together with the name of the architect, constructor and the significant dates.
I have arranged the buildings in several areas, although I haven´t been too strict.There is a selection of buildings with caduceus.
This symbol, linked to Greek god Hermes (Roman Mercury) is
used as part of the decoration on several late 19 to early 20 century buildings in the capital of Spain related to trade business or banking activities. The very same Hermes-Mercury appears as a young man holding a
caduceus in his hands and wearing a winged helmet. Occasionally Athena-Minerva is close to him represented as a woman wearing cuirass and helmet. A caduceus basically consists of a stick with 2 snakes around it.
